Total Safety raised more than $110,000 at its 18th Annual Helping Heroes Charity Golf Tournament at the Omni Resort Barton Creek in Austin, Texas on May 19.
“This year’s event was by far our most successful,” said Total Safety Chief Operating Officer Paul Tyree. “We are extremely pleased that we were able to give these proceeds to three very deserving charities.”
The proceeds from the tournament, previously known as the Tee It Up for Charity Golf Tournament, went to three non‐profit organizations ‐‐ Combat Marine Outdoors, Sky High for St. Jude, and Krysta’s Karing Angels.
Sky High for St. Jude’s mission is to provide an opportunity to bring communities together to fund research, provide comfort, and save the lives of children battling cancer. They support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.
Combat Marine Outdoors provides our wounded service men and women cost‐free hunting and fishing excursions and other team‐building activities to aide in recovery and strengthen their self‐confidence.
Krysta’s Karing Angels’ mission is to raise awareness on the dangers of drunk driving with personal testimonials and by displaying actual wreckage from fatal accidents involving drunk drivers.
“When I started coordinating the tournament for Total Safety eight years ago, the proceeds were only a few thousand dollars and went to Chamberlain Hunt Military Academy. It’s amazing how much the event has grown since then,” said Total Safety Executive Assistant Libby Machalicek. Total Safety raised $55,000 at the 2014 event, making the proceeds from 2015 double the amount in just one year.
The tournament took place on the Crenshaw Canyons and Fazio Foothills courses at the Omni Resort Barton Creek.
Total Safety also held a welcome reception at the Omni Resort the evening before the tournament. The reception welcomed all golfers and sponsors who participated in the charity tournament. The highlight of the evening was the proceeds check presentation to the charities. Total Safety is committed to growing the event to even greater levels through the continued hard work, dedication and ongoing support from its many tournament sponsors and supporters.
